About Naomi Mcleod

Graduated from University of New Mexico with a BFA in painting and photography.

Naomi currently lives in Healdsburg, Sonoma County.

'My references from this world have much to do with flora and natural flows in nature, as well as some of mans basic replications of natural form. I have found influence in Indian botanical miniature paintings, and textiles for their use of pattern and imagination, but have allowed the imagination to transcend and create worlds based in the ethereal, as well as referencing the natural landscape around me.

I have lived many places, and find wonderment in place and our relation to them. New Lebanon NY, Santa Fe NM, San Francisco CA, Brooklyn NY, Seattle WA, Headlands CA, and now Healdsburg, I find my reality shifted in each respective place, as if a new lens has been put over my preexisting world, and I can’t help but have it inform my relationship with my work. I thrive on this newness and curiosity.

I enjoy playing with scale and materials. My most intimate and internal work is still very much oil on panel, but I have always enjoyed taking image and message large scale, and have done many murals and signage as a way to engage with a space.
Nature is still my main guiding light and I find endless entrancement in the color / pattern / structure found in our immediate environment.
